BACKGROUND

Passo Giau is a high mountain pass in the Dolomites in the province of Belluno in Italy. It connects Cortina d'Ampezzo with Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore. It is located at the center of a vast mountain pasture at the foot of Nuvolau and dell'Averau from which you can easily reach the Monte Pore.

CSC saw the last major snowkite competition back in 2011, when Jan Schiegnitz of Germany and Marek Zac (CZE) took the titles in style.

The selection of Milan/Cortina as the venue for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games sees the region's interest in hosting major SnowKiting competitions reignite, with the prospect of demonstrating a potential new discipline for future inclusion.
