Governance - Executive Committee

The duties and responisbilities of the executive committee are to supervise the day to day business of the association as conducted by the Executive Office (Executive Secretary / General Manager)

The Excutive committee implements decisions and policy guidance of the General Assembly and working parties.

  Spyros Krotsis
(GRE)

Spyros Krotsis has been involved in kiteboarding since its early years and has contributed to the sport as a rider, organiser and sports administrator for more than two decades.

He is a founding member and President of the Hellenic Kiteboarding Association and has served the IKA as Vice President Formula Kite before being elected President.

His focus is on building a transparent, inclusive and athlete-centred class, strengthening cooperation with national class associations, federations, organisers and the industry, and supporting kiteboarding’s continued growth on the Olympic stage towards Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032.

Alastair Fox
(GBR)

Term: Until General Assembly 

 

Alastair has 20 years of experience delivering major events around the world. I have worked closely with, and supported, a wide range of Boards, Committees and Commissions within international and national organisations.

At World Sailing I was responsible for and managed the London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games as well as the Sailing World Championships and World Cup events. Additionally, I developed and implemented key strategies for World Sailing including the Olympic Vision, Para Sailing Strategy, Training & Development Strategy and Sustainability Strategy.

I have developed and delivered strong commercial partnerships and sponsors at major events around the world. I have directed and managed large teams of professionals and volunteers in complex and high-pressure situations and worked hard to implement best practices and good governance. I have been closely involved with the work of the IKA since 2008.

Bruno De Wannemaeker
(BEL)

Term: Until General Assembly 

 
Bruno started surfing in 1977, first recreational, later competitive in speed and slalom windsurfing. Later he became a coach and then a race official starting in Belgium the Flanders Fun Pool.

When kitesurfing and foiling started he was one of the first in Belgium to Start with it.

He has been an IRO since 2002, IM since 2007 and IJ since 2009. Bruno is a member of the World Sailing International Classes Committee from 1989 till today. I was member of the Windsurfing (& Kiteboarding) committee from 1997 and ended as vice-chair this committee in 2016. He has served as a member of the Equipment committee, International Measurers subcommittee, and currently in the Equipment Rules subcommittee. He has been closely working in the past 5 years with 3 International Classes: International Funboard Class Association, the Formula Windsurfing Class and the International Kiteboarding Association.

Bruno was honoured to be appointed by World Sailing to work at 4 Olympic Games and 3 Youth Olympic Games and he was awarded the ‘fellow of Jacques Rogge’ by Belgian Sailing in 2022.

Hwee Keng Maeder
(SGP)

  With over a decade and a half in Private Banking looking after Asian clients out of Zurich and Geneva, Switzerand, Hwee Keng, has always bridged the west and east.
After starting a family, her focus shifted to their family business, Wakatobi, a world class reef conservation destination where she also serves a board member since 2019.

Passionate to water sports, she was a swimmer, wakeboarder and of course since early 2000 a kiter.
She has been following kiteboarding for years and hopes to represent the women’s interest in the sports in a mature and balanced fashion.
  Development & Sustainability Officer   Herkan Sorguç
(TUR)

Term: Until General Assembly

  Mehmet Serkan Sorguç is a Turkish sports executive, sailing coach, athlete, adventurer, and international business professional whose career combines high-performance sport, sports governance, international economic relations, and exploration.

In sailing administration, he has been actively involved in the development of Turkish sailing and board sports. He served on the Technical Committee of the Turkish Sailing Federation (TYF) and has contributed to national athlete development programs, race management, coaching education, and competition organization. 

Combining experience in elite sport, international governance, economic diplomacy, coaching, adventure exploration, and athlete development, Mehmet Serkan Sorguç continues to contribute to the growth of sailing and kite sports while promoting international cooperation, innovation, and sporting excellence around the world.

Mirco Babini
(ITA)

Term: Until General Assembly

   Mirco has been a windsurfer of the early days, including winning several italian championships, competing on the international pro circuit and campaigning in the Olympic windsurfing class.

He has been involved with kiteboarding from the very beginning, as marketing and sales specialist for various brands, competitor and later event organiser.

Mirco has professional experience in professional sailing including the Italian Americas Cup Challenger "Luna Rossa" and is always looking for future opportunities for the sport. He has been also involved in the development of the World Sailing "Learn to Kiteboard" syllabus and is leading the IKA since 2014,. and has always been considered a visionary and a great supporter of sports development.

Valentin Bontus
(AUT)

I have been kiting since 2008. I started my career in Formula kite in 2021. Since then it has been an amazing journey reaching my career high of a 3rd place at the world championships in 2024.

As a riders rep my goal is to help form this class to a better and improved version, of course only in the areas that are needed to be improved. I am very motivated and happy to work together with an amazing team and can’t wait for what the future holds. Gold medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic.
